Two Car Garage Woodshop Layout
A two car garage gives you more room to separate work zones, but the extra floor space is most valuable when you resist filling it immediately.
Decide whether both bays belong to the shop
A full two bay workshop can support permanent stations. A garage that still stores a vehicle needs a reset plan closer to a shared shop.
Create distinct zones
Separate rough material and milling from bench work and assembly when possible. Keep finishing away from active dust producing work and follow product ventilation requirements.
Preserve a material route
Long boards and sheet goods need a predictable path from storage to cutting and assembly. Do not let storage gradually consume that route.
Keep flexible space
Open floor can be assembly space today and machine clearance tomorrow. Treat flexibility as a feature rather than an unfinished part of the shop.
Plan utilities before permanent stations
Electrical capacity, lighting, dust collection, heating, cooling, and ventilation can affect where equipment belongs. Solve those constraints before building fixed cabinets around a temporary layout.
